FAQ
Dr. Shafferman looks at you as a whole person and, with a lot of questions and some fact-finding, she puts together a comprehensive treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
Her treatment strategies incorporate acupuncture, botanical medicine, nutritional counseling, and hydrotherapy, and she can make individualized recommendations for lifestyle habits, nutrition, supplements, and medications.
We are not contracted with any insurance companies because we don’t like the restraints they put on your care. We prefer to have that freedom to spend as much time needed with our patients, and don’t want insurance limitations to define that time.
We will work with you to have labs and imaging covered for you by your insurance company. While we do not bill insurance directly, we provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Most patients have success with reimbursement from their insurance, and we are happy to help you through that process.
We accept CareCredit at our office. CareCredit is a convenient healthcare credit card which offers flexible financing and can be used to pay for deductibles, treatments, and other out-of-pocket expenses not covered by insurance*.
* Subject to credit approval. Minimum monthly payments required. See carecredit.com for details.
During your first visit, Dr. Shafferman will spend up to 90 minutes with you, diving into your medical history, reviewing any old labs and previous imaging, and discussing your current health goals.
Following your initial visit, Dr. Shafferman will review comprehensive lab and imaging results with you in your Treatment Visit. She will discuss treatment recommendations and may offer hands-on treatments (such as acupuncture) during this visit.
After you’ve established care in your initial and treatment visit, all standard follow ups are 30-minute appointments in which Dr. Shafferman will check in on your progress, review simple labs such as a thyroid panel, or make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
If you need clarification on a single topic, we classify that as a quick question. The best way to get this answered is to message Dr. Shafferman directly via your patient portal on Charm.
An appointment is required when you have a multitude of questions, when we are addressing new or different symptoms, or when we are making any changes to your treatment plan – all of which require the doctor to provide documentation in your chart. If you are in need of a follow up, simply call our office and we will get you scheduled for our next available appointment!
